Wallpaper prints...from your phone!

In September, Nokia released the Lumia 1020, their new Windows phone. Normally this isn't something that would interest a wallpaper design company. But then this isn't any normal phone. It has a 41 megapixel camera.
Now we have your attention!
41 megapixels. Not 4.1. 41. Imagine the designs you could capture with that sort of camera quality. There are good quality digital SLR cameras on the market with less 'pixelpower' than that, and you can't call your friends on those!
So, naturally, we looked into the Lumia 1020 to see just how good this camera was, and what it could do in terms of wallpaper designs.
One of the biggest problems in print media is picture quality. All too often people take a tiny photograph on their 0.2 megapixel camera on their phone, then send it in and ask to have it blown up to fit on their living room wall. I'm not saying it can't be done. Just don't complain when that pretty sunset on the beach comes out looking like an 80s arcade game!
With the new Lumia however, this isn't a problem. Our printers work at 300dpi - that's 300 dots of colour per inch of material, which is pretty high quality. The Lumia has a 41 megapixel camera - that's 41 million pixels. Now that might sound like a lot of mumbo jumbo to a lot of you, but what it basically means is that you can take any picture with this phone, send your custom photo wallpaper to us using your mobile web browser, and we can blow it up to a whopping 1.2m x 0.9m size without losing any picture quality at all. Even if you doubled it up so you could print the design on wallpaper, you would still get a great quality print, meaning you could have a really detailed design printed across your living room wall, and all from your little phone.
And that's not all. The Windows Creative Studio photo editing app has a range of effects, such as colour pop and red-eye removal, and you can even arrange your photos into a collage as soon as you've taken them. You could be enjoying a day out with some friends, take plenty of great quality photos, then arrange them into one big picture and print it out as a memento. Or if you witnessed something particularly beautiful on your way to work, you could capture it, edit it on the go, and order it with us using your mobile all before you got back home.
All in all this is a fantastic camera, and being able to combine it with mobile technology and our design team means that you could have large, high-quality prints in no time at all. Whether this is a huge leap forward in large-scale photography I'm not sure, but we can all agree that it's definitely a big step!
We'd love to hear from you:
