The custom of using wallpaper to decorate goes back all the way to the 16th century, when people would hang huge tapestries on their walls. Those who couldn't really afford a hand-woven tapestry turned to wallpaper brighten up their homes...and to help keep the heat in!
Since then wallpaper has become the staple diet of many a budding interior designer, and all over people are looking for new ideas to add a splash of colour and excitement to their walls.
In the past few years technology has improved massively, making the custom wallpaper we create here at WallpaperInk possible. Using all sorts of programmes and printers, our graphic designers can create almost any custom design imaginable. A cityscape photo from your unforgettable trip to New York? We can put it on your wall. That seaside sunset you'll cherish forever? We can put it on your wall. Those photos from the happiest day of your life? Well, you get the idea!
But technology hasn't stopped there.
Channel 4's Gadget Man with Richard Ayoade recently dedicated an episode to home improvements. On it they featured the next step in wallpaper technology: magnetic wallpaper!
No, that's not a typo, it's true. Magnetic wallpaper. Actual wallpaper that you can stick magnets to! It's not strictly the actual wallpaper that's magnetic. The liner is the magnetic part and the the wallpaper itself is lined with iron filings, but the principle still works, and it could become an invaluable addition to commercial spaces needing to change their designs often. Magnetic wallpaper could also put an end to all manner of office problems, such as awkward pinboards that keep falling off the wall, unsightly screw holes covered up by discoloured plaster, and having the same old boring portrait up for years on end.
So if your office needs officially updating, if your warehouse is wearing thin, or even if your business just needs a boost, get in touch with us here at WallpaperInk and we'll help bring your walls into the 21st century.
